What is a remote MCP server?
A remote MCP server runs in the cloud and speaks the Model Context Protocol over HTTP. There's nothing to install or host: you connect to its URL from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or through gate's single gateway URL.
What does the grade mean?
gate connects to every open server, lists its tools and scans them for prompt injection, hidden instructions, exfiltration hints and over-broad permissions, plus a Claude review of each description. 100 points minus deductions; A ≥ 90, B ≥ 78. Grades are re-checked weekly. Servers behind sign-in can't be scanned from outside and show no grade.
Where do these servers come from?
Three places: a curated set of official vendor endpoints, servers their authors submitted through /submit (scanned first, reviewed by a human), and the official MCP registry, which gate imports daily and probes for reachability.
